AAEPC and CFAAC

Welcome to the Anne Arundel Estate Planning Council.

With support from the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County, Anne Arundel Estate Planning Council (AAEPC) was created in fall 2012 by a group of tax, legal, insurance, and financial advisors as a local alternative to similar councils in Baltimore and Washington, D.C.  The Council’s mission is to provide opportunities for wealth and estate planning professionals from various disciplines to interact, share ideas and build relationships that will allow them to better serve their clients and the community.  AAEPC provides periodic educational programs and networking events for professional advisors.  Many of our programs offer continuing education credits for CPAs, CFPs, and insurance professionals.

Visit the AAEPC Event Calendar for a schedule of upcoming programs.

About Our Partner - Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County

As a professional advisor, you have clients who want to give back.  They may be giving with your help or independently, writing checks or using more sophisticated charitable instruments, but many of your clients are donating regularly to the causes they care about.  By partnering with the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County (CFAAC), you can make it easier for your clients to give effectively and maximize their tax benefits.  Key reasons professional advisors work with CFAAC include:

  • CFAAC is a 501(c)(3) public charity; all charitable donations made to CFAAC or one of our funds qualify for an immediate tax deduction up to the maximum allowed by law.
  • CFAAC can handle complex gifts, such as gifts of stock, real estate, or charitable rollovers from an IRA.
  • Your clients can set up a named fund (e.g., Johnson Family Foundation), give anonymously (e.g., the Acorn Fund), or both.
  • Local Focus.  Broad Reach.  While CFAAC is focused on supporting vital causes in Anne Arundel County, clients can give to any charitable cause, as well as educational and religious institutions, here at home, nationally, and in some cases, internationally.

CFAAC offers flexible, convenient, tax-saving charitable solutions including:

Donor Advised Funds—Similar to a private family foundation only simpler and more cost-effective to manage.  Donor-Advised Funds can be passed down from one generation to the next, bonding families around their unique, shared values and charitable interests.

Impact Funds—Clients can give to one of CFAAC’s existing Impact Areas (Arts, Environment, Health & Wellness, Youth & Education, Economic Opportunity, and Community Leadership) or establish their own.

Designated Endowments—Clients may wish to provide permanent, endowed support to their favorite charities.

Life Income Plans—CFAAC can serve as the trustee for charitable remainder trusts—great tools for clients who are charitable and have significant assets.
